He was on track to run his best time ever...at 13 miles (the half way point) he was at 1:31! Holy cow that is fast! That would have put him on track to run the marathon in 3 hours, which was his goal. Then at mile 17 his knee gave out. So he had to take some time and walk, ice it, try to work it out. Not really much you can do about that though. Bummer. He was a little disappointed, but recognized that the part of the race he actually had control over he did great with. Even with having to walk a little and slow down some, he still finished in 3:19:24!
Here he is almost to the finish line
Crossing the finish line...like I said, you can't really get a good shot. But I love all the balloons and everything and you can see the time and he's over on the right side about to cross.
Jared's favorite part of any race is getting a complimentary massage!
Jared's brother Dan also ran (w/out training and he did ridiculously well...he surprised us all when he finished in about 3:40!!!) It was fun to hang out with Melissa and the kids. And thank goodness for some playgrounds to entertain the kids (even if they were sooo crowded!).
Dan's oldest, Veronica giving him a massage and pushing on his back to help him stretch. I think Mia thought she was helping Jared in the same way :)
Our family there to support Jared
This picture was taken by Mia - I love it!

I have to say I count my blessings everytime we run into situations like this when I get to hang out with you while we wait for our husbands to finish another race. I LOVE spending time with you!
That is one crazy man you've got! Good job Jared!
