Cowabunga Bay

A long, long time ago (as in Spring 2010...but for a 4 year old that really is forever ago...) our family drove by a magical place (aka a local waterpark called Cowabunga Bay) and Mia was enamored with it. Over and over I heard, "Mom, I want to go there." and "Mom, when can we go to Cowabunga bay?". I sat her down and explained to her that it cost money to go there and it would be fun to go, but we would have to save our money.

So "we" saved our money. Every time Mia got any change she would put it in her piggy bank and tell me it was for Cowabunga Bay. One time I asked her if she wanted to buy something and she told me she couldn't because she was saving her money for Cowabunga Bay. Every time we drove by she got sooo excited and asked when we were going.

Recently, my parents came in town and when we picked them up from the airport the first thing she told them was that she would show them were Cowabunga Bay was when we drove past and that we were going to go there. Of course my parents were like, huh?

Fast forward to the last week of summer. As in, the last week the park would be open and Jared and I were starting to feel slightly guilty. So, ta-da...
We made it!

And was it magical? Was it the most amazing place we've ever been? Was it totally worth the $40 we spent for 4 hours?
No. No. And definitely NO!

After 1 1/2 hours Jared asked if we could leave. But I was determined to stay for ALL four hours. I mean, we didn't pay that much for just one hour!

So we went around the small lazy river a hundred more times. And we went down slide after slide. Untill Mia bumped her head at the bottom of one and she was done with those.

And Tessa was her usual cute self. So to summarize...not really worth it, but the kids had a BLAST and we gained Best Parents of the Year status...momentarily :)

There is an indoor park like that here that I took the kids to for Alex's birthday this year- and it was awful! So pricey, and we got discount tickets- but after half an hour, I was totally done- Dana didn't get to come- he had a baseball game- it was not fun by myself, but the crazies LOVED it- I mean they talked about it for days, weeks, and beg to go again- uh, no, but HECK NO will I ever do that again!
It amazes me what kids think is the best place ever- I was dying!!
Love the pics, though, and Tessa is just darling!

I think I remember her talking about this place longingly when you picked me up from the airport in May. :-) At least all of her dreams have come true. Did her piggy-bank go towards that $40??
