Lake Powell

We went to Lake Powell July 22-26th and it was AWESOME! A few things were different this year. First, we went to the Arizona side of the lake. It was a longer drive, but fun to try/see something new. Second, we went with people we didn't really know; that always makes for an interesting trip :) Jared knows a guy from work that invited us to go with him and his family so we said yes! I had met him ONCE, but his family and everyone else they invited were complete strangers to us! But how can you say "no" when this is the boat they have a timeshare on?!Ya...it was REALLY nice and HUGE!
Another totally fun thing was that this really nice houseboat was at a really nice marina (of course). So when we arrived at the marina we pulled right up to the front of the marina, unloaded our bags and then we were greeted by one of these nice people in their golf carts who loaded everything up for us, drove all our junk and US down the docks, to our boat and then loaded everything onto the houseboat for us. WOW! How nice was that?!
Ok, so they weren't standing there looking so professional and just waiting at our beck and call (I got this picture online) But they were really nice and did EVERYTHING for us! Whick was really nice considering I was trying to keep track of the 2 little ones! Which brings us to #3, we brought our kids with us this year! Here they are taking their naps - which they did EVERY day, providing a stress free 2 hours for Jared and I each day :)
We haven't taken our kids to Lake Powell in a long time. In fact, the only time we have is when Mia was about 8 months and we camped on the beach, so it wasn't quite as scary as the houseboat. I was a little nervous, especially about Gavin. Mia is a little better at obeying and more importantly, knows how to swim confidently in her life jacket. Gavin...not so much. But they both had such a fun time, did great, nobody drowned (that's a bonus!) and on a houseboat that big with LOTS of nice features (big flat screen tv, fully enclosed, air conditioned main floor, our own room with a queen bed for the kids to nap in with a door to keep them in...) it made it pretty easy to keep track of the kids and feel like they were safe. It's definitely more relaxing to go to Lake Powell without kids, but it was a lot of fun to take them this time and see them enjoying themselves so much. My kids absolutely LOVE the water and the boat and played in it ALL day. It was great!

A huge sand castle some of the kids made

Gavin ready for a boat ride (speaking of, we have really been enjoying our new boat this summer!)
An oh-s0-beautiful picture of me, but proof that I was there :)

Mia just relaxing - she's got this Lake Powell thing down!
