Mom's Sick Day

Oh wait, mom's don't get sick days. When they do feel the need to take one, terrible things usually end up happening! Ok, well maybe not terrible, but the house usually ends up looking like a tornado has swept through the entire thing.

I have been miserably sick lately. It's just a cold, but this thing has wiped me out as if I had the flu! Seriously. I've been sick for 2 weeks, and I think that instead of it getting better, I'm getting worse! Oh how I absolutely hate being sick!

So Mia and Gavin have been having lots of fun being "unsupervised"...

Tuesday evening as I'm going to bed I noticed the hair scissors on my bathroom counter. Hmm...well, Mia must have just been cutting some paper (I did see a little cut up paper as well, but not a single strand of hair - she's a tricky one, that little Mia!). Neither Jared or I noticed anything strange at dinner that night and I even washed her hair and didn't notice anything. In fact, she looked just like this:

Really, given the circumstances I am SOOOOOO counting my blessings that this was the end result. I have seen MUCH worse!

Wednesday morning as I'm doing Mia's hair it finally all comes together when I tried to pull some of it into a ponytail. She had decided to give herself a small section of bangs!

Really SHORT bangs!

Not happy at all, but grateful it can be hidden. That means no ponytails for her for awhile. I just hate when her hair falls into her eyes. BUT...it seems she cut most the hair that used to fall into her eyes anyways :)

Wednesday was Gavin's turn for fun. With all the nose blowing going on around our house, Gavin has decided to start trying to blow his own nose. I LOVE when my kids learn how to blow their noses! He's pretty funny about it though. He will NOT let me hold the kleenex and help him at all. If I do, he just stands there. If, however, he holds the kleenex up himself, he totally blows his own nose. The only problem is that most of it ends up smeared across his face. Gross. Since I am so excited about him learning to blow his nose I have been cheering him on like crazy every time he does it. He thinks it's really neat. And apparently the best part is getting a kleenex ALL by yourself!

Or 100 Kleenex!

Then he tried to help me put them all away and back up on the counter. What a great helper :)And not to worry, 1 day later all those kleenex that were pulled out have been used - mostly by me!

Thursday while I showered the kids got into the cupcakes. I did try to be a good mom at one point on Wednesday and made cupcakes with Mia, just because she wanted too! Back to today. Mia wanted a cupcake for breakfast. I told her after lunch she could have one. Apparently just after breakfast was close enough (we did have a later breakfast...). I came out of my room and was getting Gavin dressed when I noticed he was kind of messy. This can't be good, I told myself. Sure enough, when I went downstairs the kitchen table and floor were COVERED in crumbs. We're not talking just a few...I mean crumbs EVERYWHERE!!! Thank goodness I hadn't made chocolate cupcakes!

No pictures of this mess. By now I'm too tired to document the madness going on around here! I wonder what tomorrow will bring...

I'm so sorry! Do you think it could be a sinus infection? I have seasonal allergies, and when they flare up I always get a sinus infection (which gets worse and never goes away!). I hope you start feeling better soon!

Oh for heavens sake, kids are exhausting. Esp. when you are feeling sick. Let's make a deal. Next time you are sick/have a cold will you call me? Because I will totally pick up your kids and give you a day off so you can rest! Want me to come pick them up tomorrow? I'm serious!

So sorry you are sick! One thing I have learned as a mom is moments of solitude come with a price! Whenever the kids are playing quietly in another room- there is trouble to be found!

I'm so sorry you don't feel good! I was chuckling with Mia hair do! Hannah did the same thing not too long ago, more than once. I gave up! I just cut normal bangs in the end, we are now just finally growing it out. Gavin is a hoot! I love him trying to put the tissues back up! Bless his heart! When you get a min. and if you have them, will you post the pic's of Jared's last race when he and Dan dressed up as missionaries! Hang in there, if you want , I ditto Melissa's offer, I'll watch the little ones, you can send them with Jared and I'll pick them up from his office and take them back after. Let me know!

Leah was 4 when she cut her own hair- very similiar to Mia's and YES, it was when I was SICK, too! I never get sick, but was so bad that day- pretty much slept the entire day away- and while I was, well, the scissors got a work out! It grew back,of course, but it took forever!! Thankfully we have cute girls, or else we'd really be in bad shape!
hope you get to feeling better soon!

They always know just when they can get away with stuff, don't they? The hair could have been MUCH worse. Consider yourself lucky! I hope you feel better soon!
