About a week ago Mia and I had this conversation. She had been spelling everyone's name in our family and when she finished...
Me: What about the baby?
Mia: What baby?
Me: The baby in my belly.
Mia: Oh ya (giggling) I don't know about that!
After a short pause...
Mia: Mom, did you eat it?
Me: Eat what? (knowing full well what she was referring to!)
Mia: The baby...did you eat the baby in your belly?
After tons of laughter by Jared and I...
Me: No, I did NOT eat the baby!
Mia: Well, then how did it get there?
Me: ??? (Pretty much the end of that conversation)
Mia cracks me up! But she is also way to inquisitive for a 4 year old. I tried telling her that the baby came from heaven (a very age-appropriate answer, in my opinion!). But that was not good enough for her. Noo, she wanted to know how that baby from heaven ended up in my belly!
Then just today - I don't know what we were talking about - but she asked me how the baby got out of my belly! I told her when it was time the doctor would get the baby out, but she wanted to know HOW the doctor was going to get the baby out. This is the only time I wish I had c-sections...such an easier explanation in some ways!
Help please? How do you respond to either of those? She's four.

That's really funny. Are you sure you didn't eat the baby? Anyway, I would just tell her the truth in a way she would understand. Good luck!
We explained it to Madilee as accurately as possible without it being so detailed that she'd embarrass us by repeating what we'd told her :). Something along the lines of there is a place in girls' private parts where the baby is able to come out when you are all grown up and the baby is big and healthy enough. It actually went over pretty well. It was explaining why William's bottom was different than hers that was really awful. She just could NOT get past the difference. She called it William's BIG bottom and then announced in a restaurant that that must mean Daddy also had a big bottom. Luckily only we knew what she was really referring to ha ha!
Tough one- but we sort of said the same thing- it's where mommy's pee- sounds worse than it is, really, but they got it- though my girls have given me strange looks!! That should suffice for now- but wait till she's older- man, I am hoping it holds off!!
She is too funny. Good luck with that convo!
Try to widen her focus to baby animals and birds. If she insists on more info then try the puzzle pieces explanation. When you are married Mom's and Dad's have parts that fit together like a puzzle and make a baby....... and leave it there until you are ready to give her more.
