Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta

So after the St. George Marathon, we rested the remainder of Saturday and then Sunday we took off early to head to Albuquerque.

The best part of the drive to Albuquerque…IMAG0323

My sister Jill and her family live in Albuquerque and Jared decided to purchase a new massage chair (which was on clearance, and only 4 left in the country…one of them happening to be in Albuquerque.)  So we had a few reasons to go.  We have also wanted to go the the balloon fiesta every year and since it was at the right time, figured, why not?!  We also had hoped that already being in St. George would cut off some of our travel time.  Not so.  It still took us 9 hours to drive there, cutting off just 1 hour.  Oh well, it was worth it!

We rushed to get there to see the “balloon glow” on Sunday night, followed by fireworks.  Just before leaving, we realized that most of the fiesta stuff happens on the weekends, and since we weren’t arriving  until Sunday afternoon, we would miss most :(.  But what we did see what so FUN!

On to the Balloon Glow and pictures…basically, you walk around the field and are RIGHT there to watch hundreds of balloons set up and blown up.  They don’t launch this night, but “glow” as you walk around.  Really cool to see hundreds of balloons all glowing like crazy.  Mia was convinced that a balloon would fall down on us (it was a little windy, but not bad).

That looks so cool! What a fun trip -with so many added bonuses - Jill's family and a massage chair. Jeff always said that would be his first purchase after all this med school stuff. I wonder if it will be. I'm glad you like yours!
