The very last thing we did on Christmas Eve before putting to bed all the kids was give them some “magic” hot chocolate. Grandma made all the grandkids a cup and they were each given a candy cane to stir.
Grandma then told them they had to slowly stir and stir until that candy cane was melted. I read them some Christmas stories while they slooowwwly mixed their hot chocolate. After a crazy day and night, and even with all the excitement that comes with Christmas Eve, these kids just calmed down and sure enough when they were done they were all sleepy eyed and ready for bed! Magic indeed!!!
Someone looks like he’s getting tired…
Last, but not least, getting a plate of cookies ready for Santa.
And some hot chocolate for Santa (not the “magic” kind though…we don’t want HIM falling asleep on Christmas Eve!)
Then it was off to bed for those kids!
And sure enough, Santa came!
