This picture has nothing to do with this post...just a random picture of the kids checking out and feeding the fish at Cabella's during a preschool fieldtrip last week.
The best part of the fieldtrip - total cost = 25 cents for the fish food! Why have I never taken my kids there before??? FREE entertainment!
On to the title of my post....
If you didn't know, being 5 years old is NOT a requirement for starting kindergarten anymore...at least not according to Mia. We had the following conversation a couple weeks ago:
Mia: Mom, guess what? I'm starting Kindergarten now!
Me: No sweetie, you're still in preschool. You have to be 5 to be in Kindergarten.
Mia (very defiantly): NO! I'm starting Kindergarten! I like the skin on my apples now, so I'm starting Kindergarten!
Huh...good to know!

Then this week Mia reminded me that she was in Kindergarten now...
Mia (after I had given her an apple slice with the skin removed): Moooommmm, didn't you remember that I'm in Kindergarten so I can have apples WITH skin on them.
Geesh, what in the world was I thinking?!
